Chronic Maxx Records was founded by veteran musician and artist Mansell Laidler as a home for creative expression, collaboration, and community. After a decade in the Defence Force Band system, Mansell transitioned into a diverse arts practice that spans experimental electronica (Chronic Bass), ambient improvisation (Skink), blues and soul (Last Call), and a range of collaborative projects including Dalmatians, Chank Trio, and Full Chank.

This label is both a personal creative outlet and a platform to highlight the voices of other veteran artists — those exploring new sounds, performance practices, and ways of connecting through music and art. Chronic Maxx Records stands for creativity, authenticity, and the belief that art can be a powerful bridge between lived experience and shared expression
